Hey, I've been working on a new species called Banterbeast. They will need some work to be done to polish and expand upon. But, I feel like I'm almost at the point of letting people check them out. Things like the species ref and diagrams of their anomaly are still being worked on. I'm also using this to get people's questions and help me expand the info a bit. This is an open species.
Soo, what are Banterbeast?
The Banterbeast, these mammals are massive in scale compared to humans. They have been known for digging massive systems of caves and caverns, witch Where they live in. They normally try not to interact with humans, but there has been a new wave of Banterbeast working and living with some humans and others fighting and killing them. Banterbeasts are powerful and durable due to their psychology and armor-like plates on their bodies. Due to how they live, seeing them out in the wild is not rare but can be dangerous.
Anatomy
Banterbeast has 2 layers of fur. the shorter and softer fur is on there under bully and the more fluffer and firm is more of a mane-like on the rest of the body. They also have armor plates which are made of bone as well as hardened fur and skin. These plants are extremely durable and hard to break or penetrate. Their armor plates as well as their bones are similar traits to metals like steel, including durability.
But, they are not magnetic. They can use their tails as weapons. They also have no platting on their head besides their muzzle, which has a small patch on the top. Banterbeast maw packs a powerful punch with powerful bite force (85k PSI), their bite force is strong enough to break rock and crystals. As well as plants and prey. they also have a prehensile tongue that can grab and pull things. They also use it for hunting. Also, the banter has a set of powerful paws that can crush boulders and claws shaped enough to cut metals like iron like butter. Which they used for digging burrows, tunnels, and dens, as well as for hunting. Both males and females have pouches that they use to store things like offspring, tools, food, and other things. Their pouches have soft fur inside. also, due to their bones and size. They are not the best swimmers. they mostly skink. They also can roll into a ball for protection.
Guts and bones
Like most animals, Banterbeast has a pair of longs and a heart. but, unlike others, Banterbeast has 2 stomachs, The first one is for storage and light digestion. Due to the Banterbeast habit of being underground when looking for rocks and crystals. And a second one for proper digestion. So they hunt and forage for food to fill up their stomachs. Also, due to their diet, they have 2 livers and 2 sets of kidneys.
Their bones and plates are extremely durable due to their build and diet.
Facial characteristics
The Banterbeast has a more canine face with armor plates on the top part of their snouts.

Social Structure
Most live in groups. they normally follow the oldest member as a leader. they will live in networks of dens in caves and caverns. Not all structures they make are for sleeping. Some are for Banterbeast to gather and interact with each other. Others for storage and places for trade. These nets of burrows are close to villages and towns.
Some of them prefer to live alone.
There are a few that live with humans, but, not as pets. they are more seen as companions or the Banterbeast itself will call the human their pet. They normally put them in their pouch.
Average Intelligence
They are pretty smart, They are experts at making tools and weapons as well as using them. also, some have been seen (mainly with humans) using Guns and explosives. they sometimes were armor, primarily to protect exposed parts. A good chunk are pretty creative and makes art and decorations for their dens. They are also seen working as a group making networks of burrows. in these burrows, they have been observed trading, making art, and prepping for hunts on the surface. Some have been found farming.
there have been moments where Banterbeast have interact with humans for trade. Most of the time it normally goes smoothly.
Body Tint, Coloring and Marking
They have different kinds of fur and armor colors. But some tattoos there armor plates for flare and self-expression.
DOs:
Make them Big, These guys are massive.
you can add markings and tattoos on the armor plates.
make sure the face is canine.
Make sure they have a long tail. they use it to roll into a ball.
DON'Ts:
do not put plates on their head, beside the top of their snout, or muzzle.
Do not have them without their armor plates.
